Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is a form of exfoliating using a mechanical piece of equipment which utilizes the application and removal of aluminum chloride crystals, which abrade the outermost layer of skin, which is called the epidermis. This process will remove several layers of dead skin cells. The process is not painful and has been described as a cat licking your face. Some fairer skin types may have some redness and mild swelling, which can last from up to one hour to two days.

When you put lotions or creams on your skin, some of the moisture passes through the stratum corneum, but not all of it. The dead skin layers act as a barrier.

Removing the top most layers of dead skin results in healthier looking skin, even pigmentation, and the look of fine lines and wrinkles is reduced. Imperfections like blemishes and scarring are greatly improved with multiple sessions. The product is absorbed into the deeper layers of the skin providing moisture and nourishment to the cells.

The process of removing dead skin cells prompts the skin to regenerate new cells, and this healing process brings with it newer skin cells that look and feel smoother.

Microderm is excellent for clients with scarring from blemishes, to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, also helps to promote healthy skin tone. Many of our clients choose Microderm to remove stubborn mila (white heads) as a preference to lancing and manually removing the mila, which can be painful and stressful to the client. Particularly if the client has a lot of clogged pores.

This process is done in Salons, Spas, Medical Facilities and should be regarded as a Clinical treatment.  Measures to protect the skin after the treatment will be discussed with you to use precaution with direct sun exposure, and your Esthetician will provide you with suggestions of how to care for your skin.
